We are located in our resident neighborhood of Logan Square at the North East corner of Fullerton and Spaulding.

Four blocks from the Logan Square Blue line stop and easily accessible from 90/94.

Our Story

Broken Roller is a corner boutique hair shop where style, music, comfort and community thrive in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood.

Owners Summer Schumacher and Chris Lelko have restored their 1915 constructed storefront with the vision of being an extension of their home, detailing the space with handcrafted woodwork, vintage tile, brick, plants and art.

The welcoming atmosphere and emphasis on groovy music is a focal point at The Roller along with the couple’s unique approach for creating natural, rich looking color and refined contemporary classic cuts. Each with a style and approach of their own, Summer has become one of the city’s most sought after curly hair specialist, while Chris’ rich & vibrant colors, sharp men's and elegant lady's cuts can be seen here and abroad.

The King, Buddy, Hank, Hag, Patsy, Kitty, Conway, Cash, Buck, George, Waylon, Brian, Jimi, Janis, Jim, Pigpen, Jerry, Duane, Barry, Gregg, Graham, Ray, Aretha, Otis, Wilson, Wolf, Muddy, Robert, Miles, Bird, Trane, John, George, Moon The Loon, The Ox, Bonzo, Freddie, Sid, Richard, Bowie, Prince, Cliff, Bon, Malcolm, Lemmy, Kurt, Layne, Scott, Chris, Walter, Tom & Taylor have all been heard playing in the shop with current favs interwound on the in betweens and go betweens.
